Leading radiator manufacturers, Contour Heating, share the success of their most recent project – which involved the supply and installation of their DeepClean Radiator Guards to improve a nursery school’s hygiene standards.

Located in the South of England, this nursery school wanted to create a more hygienic environment for its pupils by replacing their MDF radiator covers.
“Due to the MDF construction of the radiator covers, cleaning and maintenance operatives found it increasingly difficult to access the internal elements of the radiator, causing significant dust and bacteria build-up”, commented Robin Mansel, Contour’s Commercial Director.
Through the supply and installation of Contour’s innovative DeepClean radiator guards – with BioCote anti-microbial protection – this South East educational establishment was able to benefit from a fresh, hygienic heating solution. BioCote® is incorporated at the manufacturing stage, to offer optimum protection against various microbes: bacteria, mould, and some viruses. Together with cleaning regimes and hand hygiene, it delivers the ultimate hygiene protection.
The wall-mounted installation of Contour’s radiator guard enabled cleaning and maintenance staff access the floor underneath the heat emitter, and the drop-down cover allowed operatives to clean the radiator’s internal elements, providing a much more thorough clean in a fraction of the time.
Enhancing safety standards further, the poignantly-titled ‘pencil-proof’ grilles can be found on all of Contour’s DeepClean range of radiators and guards. Pencil-proof grilles minimise the risk of small items – like pencils and crayons – being dropped behind radiators or into radiator covers, which can cause an issue for cleaning and heat outputs and the risk of fingers being caught. Cleaning is made easier because smaller grilles will minimise the dust and dirt being trapped.
This nursery didn’t want to miss out on the opportunities colour psychology can have to improve the learning experience for children. So, the nursery opted for a light grey colour for the radiator guard.
The light grey colour fitted in well with the decor of the room and helped it to blend in compared with he bright white that is a standard option for the Deepclean cover. Other colours are available.
